Chad Patterson serves as Creative Director and Resident Playwright of Acting Up Theatre Company. His original plays have been produced and seen in over 20 counties in Michigan and both Peninsulas. They include the children's plays "Season's Greetings", "Bob the Book Elf", "The Sport of Reading", "Read Trip U.S.A.", "Why am I in the Winner's Circle?", "Read 'em for Freedom", "Laugh It Up... Please!!" and this year's play "Where does this trail Start?" He also wrote the dinner theatre show "The Fishing Contest" Chad enjoys writing for children and teaching them theatre as well. He joined the company in 1997 and was instrumental in developing the One week school residency that is the centerpiece of all that Acting Up Theatre Company does. He was educated in the Lansing area and studied under Penny Owen, Bill Cecil and Nationally renowned director Guy Sanville (Purple Rose Theatre Company) He has many acting and teaching credits to his name. His parts have been so diverse that they run the gamut from silly-- playing a Cow in Riverwalk Theatre's (Lansing) production of "Jack and the Beanstalk" to the very dramatic playing Tom Wingfield most recently in Kirtland Community College's production of "The Glass Menagerie."
